Electric actuator (electric actuator), also known as valve electric device or electric head, is a term used in different industries. In the industrial pipeline valve industry, it is called valve electric device, and in the instrument industry, it is called electric actuator (electric actuator).

Valves are often used as very important equipment in industrial pipeline control. Electric valves are more commonly used than pneumatic, hydraulic and other driving methods due to their easy access to power sources and generally maintenance free advantages. In industrial settings, electric valves are required to have higher reliability and safety. The safety and reliability of electric valves usually depend on the electric actuator (electric actuator). Therefore, the performance, control accuracy, function, and intelligent program of electric actuators are the comprehensive performance of the overall technical level of electric valve doors. So when selecting electric actuators (electric actuators), in addition to some basic elements that must be considered, reasonable technical requirements should be put forward to achieve the maximum value of electric valves.

There are many types of electric actuators (electric actuators), and different types and functions of electric actuators (electric actuators) can be called electric valves when matched with valves. However, in the design and selection process, only the parameters of the valve are emphasized, and the relevant requirements of the electric actuator (electric actuator) are often ignored or not clearly defined. This not only makes the electric valve unable to perform its corresponding performance, but also brings unnecessary trouble during installation, debugging, and use, and even causes serious consequences to production.

Advantages and disadvantages of electric actuators

Advantages of electric actuators

Electric actuators have the advantages of convenient energy acquisition, fast signal transmission speed, long transmission distance, convenient centralized control, high sensitivity, high electrical adjustment accuracy, easy operation, and simple installation and wiring. The disadvantage lies in its complex structure, low thrust, and higher average failure rate than pneumatic actuators, making it suitable for places with low explosion-proof requirements and lack of air sources.

Disadvantages of electric actuators

Its structure is relatively complex, with many faults, and due to its complexity, the technical requirements for on-site maintenance personnel are relatively high. During the operation of the motor, heat is generated. If the adjustment is too frequent, it is easy to cause the motor to overheat, which not only provides thermal protection but also increases the wear of the reducer; In addition, the operation is slow, and the signal output from the regulator is moved in the appropriate position to make the regulating valve respond, which requires a longer time. This is not as effective as pneumatic or hydraulic actuators.
